Tree Services in Adelaide — Every Job, One Crew
Tree services in Adelaide cover a lot of ground: a single hedge trim in Unley, a 25m sugar gum coming down in Burnside, a written arborist report for a council application, a fallen limb at midnight in the Hills. Tree Fox handles the lot — eleven services, one local crew, one quote process.
Every service below is performed by qualified arborists, fully insured to $20 million public liability, and quoted in writing before any work starts. Click through for pricing, scope, council notes and an FAQ specific to that service.
Tree removal
Full take-downs across metro Adelaide and the Hills — small backyard trees through to large eucalypts that need a crane lift. We sectional-fell where access is tight (typical of inner-east heritage blocks), and we lodge the regulated tree development application on your behalf if your tree falls under City of Burnside, Unley, NPSP, Mitcham, Walkerville, Prospect or Adelaide Hills Council rules. Cost range $250–$4,000+ depending on size, species, access and stump.

Tree lopping
Height reduction, crown thinning and shape correction — done by a climbing arborist who knows where to cut so the tree survives. Most “tree lopping” jobs we get called to are actually correcting damage from someone else’s bad lopping. If your gum’s been hat-racked or your jacaranda’s lost its shape, we’ll quote on bringing it back where possible.

Stump grinding
Mechanical stump grinding takes the stump 100–300mm below ground level using a high-speed cutting wheel, leaving the root mass to decompose. You can lay turf, pave, plant or build over the top. Most stumps run $100–$350 on their own; we discount when grinding’s bundled with the removal.

Stump removal
Full extraction — stump and root ball pulled out completely. Slower and more expensive than grinding, but the right call when you’re putting in a swimming pool, a driveway slab, or anywhere structural over the spot. Cost depends entirely on root size and access.

Arborist reports
Written reports prepared by a Cert V (AQF Level 5) consulting arborist for council development applications, pre-purchase inspections, insurance claims, neighbour disputes and tree preservation orders. SA councils — particularly Burnside, Unley and NPSP — won’t accept a tradie’s note. They want a qualified consulting report. Ours satisfy PlanSA’s requirements.

Palm tree removal
Adelaide’s coastal strip — Glenelg, Henley, Semaphore — is full of mature Canary Island date palms, cotton palms and Norfolk Island pines. They’re heavy, awkward and (in the case of date palms) have spikes that puncture safety boots. We remove them whole or in sections, including the root ball. Frond-only clean-ups also available — usually annual on tall palms.

Storm damage & emergency removal
24/7 emergency response across metro Adelaide for fallen trees, split limbs, branches on roofs and powerline-adjacent work. Storm season runs November to March; we run a triage system during peak weeks — life-safety jobs first, property-damage second, prevention work after the queue clears. If a powerline’s involved, we coordinate with SA Power Networks. You don’t approach it.

Land clearing
Block clearing for builders, owner-builders, and rural property owners. Includes selective clearing (keeping the regulated trees, removing the rest), full-block clearing, fence-line clearing and bushfire-zone clearance work for properties in the Hills under Bushfire Protection Overlay. We mulch on-site or remove debris depending on scope.

Commercial tree services
Body corporates, schools, councils, real estate agents and property managers. We work on contract or job-by-job. Ask about scheduled tree-canopy assessments — most strata-managed properties haven’t had one since the building was put up, and a 60-minute walk-around can flag the next failure before it becomes an insurance claim.

Tree pruning
Proper arborist pruning — formative pruning on younger trees to set their structure, deadwooding on mature trees to reduce limb-drop risk, crown lifting where the canopy’s overhanging the driveway or roof. Pruning ≤30% of the crown is exempt from regulated-tree approval (every 5 years), which we’ll tell you about up front.

Hedge trimming
Square edges on box, photinia, lilly pilly, conifer and laurel hedges. Annual or twice-yearly. We bring our own hedge shears and chip the trimmings on the spot. Hedges over 4m are quoted with EWP access.

Not sure which service you need?
Honest answer: half the people who call us aren’t sure either. Send a photo of the tree (or the stump, or the storm-damaged limb) through the quote form and we’ll tell you what’s involved before you commit to anything.
